During this time, we are especially focused on our concern for community. MidSouth is guided by seven principles that reinforce our responsibility to members. The credit is calculated: $.03 x kWh consumed = Kilowatt Relief Members will see the credit on their billing statements in the Wholesale Power Cost Adjustment (WPCA) line item. The total amount in Kilowatt Relief is projected to be approximately $4 million dollars. This will ultimately result in more money credited to member accounts than through Capital Credits.Īn average bill of 1,500 kilo-watt-hours (kWh) will have a $45 credit for the months of May and June. ![]() ![]() This decision by the board of directors provides members with immediate financial assistance during the COVID-19 crisis. The decision to replace Capital Credits with Kilowatt Relief was made carefully and strategically with the best interest of consumers in mind. Traditionally, Capital Credits are credited to a member-consumer’s account in June. Each year, the Board of Directors evaluates the cooperative’s financial standing and determines what amount of profits are returned to members in the form of Capital Credits. To immediately relieve financial hardship and help members more efficiently, the MidSouth Electric Co-op Board of Directors has decided to provide Kilowatt Relief in lieu of Capital Credits in 2020. On May and June statements, members will notice a new bill credit, lowering their payment and keeping more money in their pockets. The co-op is focused on providing quality service at a reasonable price, bringing vital services to increase both the quality of life and economic health in the MidSouth service area. MidSouth Electric Co-op serves over 25,000 consumer-members in and around Montgomery, Grimes, Walker, Waller, Brazos, Madison and Waller counties. Another $3.3 million is projected for July and August bringing the estimated total given to $7.3 million in Kilowatt Relief funds for our members. In April, the cooperative announced $4 million would be given back to active members in the form a new bill credit to help alleviate financial hardships resulting from COVID-19. Youth Tour was established with one thought in mind: to inspire our next generation of leaders. Participants and chaperones visit the city’s monuments and historical sites meet with elected officials to witness their government in action and learn about the cooperative business model. They’re all likely to tell you it’s the trip of a lifetime!Įvery year in June, electric co-ops across the country send outstanding local high school students to the nation’s capital. Or ask any of the more than 1,900 co-op participants from other states. What is Youth Tour? Ask one of the more than 150 high school students who are representing Texas electric cooperatives this year during a week of sightseeing and new experiences in Washington, D.C. Ashley Adam, Abby Barnett, Kirstie Busa, McKenna Pavelock, and Mallory Rhodes will be representing Mid-South Synergy the trip to Washington, D.C., this year.
